Nail fungus is a fairly common disease that does not cause any particular problems for people in the initial stages. But with the long-term development of pathology, the waste of pathogenic flora can cause serious poisoning of the body. In the treatment of this disease, a number of fairly effective drugs are used, of which celandine, from the toenail fungus, stands out.
properties of celandine
Celandine is a poisonous plant that releases orange juice when the stem breaks. In folk medicine, this herb is used to treat many ailments and is part of various remedies. Given that the plant is considered poisonous, a logical question arises: Is it possible to treat nail fungus with celandine?
Herbs do not negatively affect the body in the prescribed doses observed during the preparation of the pharmaceutical composition. The use of celandine against nail fungus quickly inhibits the development of pathogenic flora. This is because the composition of the plant includes the following:
- mineral salts;
- alkaloids that inhibit inflammatory processes;
- Vitamins that restore local immunity;
- essential oils;
- antibiotic;
- organic acid;
- Flavonoids.
By treating nail fungus with celandine, the following effects can be achieved:
- destroy fungal spores;
- soften the affected skin area;
- relieve inflammation;
- eliminate itching and pain;
- Accelerates the healing of open wounds.
Celandine is considered the most effective remedy. However, to cure nail fungus, you can use plants collected in other areas. The forms used in the treatment of the disease are:
- Alcohol tinctures;
- bathing;
- compression;
- soup;
- Oil.
The choice of treatment depends largely on patient preference. In each case you get the same result.
juice
For nail fungus, you can use celandine juice. Before each treatment, you must regularly perform the following steps:
- steam your fingers with hot water;
- Use a pumice stone or other remedy to remove a fungal infection from the nail plate.
To prepare the juice, it is necessary to roll all parts of the plant through a meat grinder: leaves, stems, flowers. The resulting slurry should be well squeezed. Liquid celandine can be mixed 1: 1 with 70% alcohol (additionally injected during the day) or used alone.
Apply the resulting solution to the affected area of the nail plate 1-2 times a day. Treatment with plant sap lasts at least three months and ends when the damaged area of the finger has fully recovered.
In warm seasons, freshly cut celandine juice is recommended. Before applying the remedy to the affected nail, it should be treated with hydrogen peroxide.
butter
The recipe to make athlete's foot oil includes the following ingredients:
- 1 liter glass jar with lid;
- 50g fresh cut celandine;
- 100-150 ml sunflower oil, preheated in a water bath, or olive oil.
Celandine oil from nail fungus is made as follows:
- Plants are pre-washed under running water. After that, you have to put it on the tray and wait for the grass to dry completely.
- Celandine in a glass jar.
- Compact the plants and pour cooked oil on top.
- Banks are placed out of sunlight. The drug is injected for one month.
- At the end of the allotted time, you need to run the resulting oil through cheesecloth.
If desired, the remedy can be mixed with lemon juice in a ratio of 1-2 drops of lemon juice to two tablespoons of the former. These components soften the board, making it easy to remove the affected part. Treatment of nail fungus with celandine oil ends after the nail has recovered.
To soften dishes, you can also combine this tool with 3% vinegar. The ratios in this case are similar to those used when using lemon juice. Obtained by mixing celandine oil and vinegar, the agent is applied in compressed form to the affected area.
Infusions and Decoctions
Celandine-based alcoholic tinctures are made from freshly cut plants. Grass should be pre-washed and dried from moisture. Next, mix the plant with vodka in a 2: 1 ratio. The tincture is aged for 12 days. Other recipes use a combination of 250 ml of 70% alcohol and 20 drops of celandine oil. The composition is injected for no more than one day.
Caution is advised to use this tool as it has many contraindications. Initially, you can apply no more than 5 drops of an alcohol tincture to the damaged area of the nail plate. In the future, the dose of the drug is gradually increased to 20 drops. Treatment should not exceed two weeks.
To make the decoction, you will also need to wash and dry the stems and leaves of the plant. Pour all ingredients into a container and pour in boiling water so that the water completely covers the celandine. Next, wrap the pan or jar in a thick cloth and place in a dark place. The broth should be infused for five days, after which the product should be filtered through gauze.
To increase the effectiveness of the drug, it is recommended to mix it with olive or vegetable oil in a ratio of 1: 1. This medication is used 2-3 times a day for about two weeks.
To make another decoction, you will also need fresh celandine leaves and stems, dried before. 5 tablespoons of plant should be mixed with 6 ml of water. The composition is then placed on the fire and boiled for a few minutes. After the final stage is complete, dilute the product with cold water to bring it to room temperature. The decoction is applied to the affected area of the nail and aged for 30 minutes. This treatment is supplemented with antifungal creams.
compression
Therapeutic compresses obtained from celandine are mainly used in the later stages of the disease, when the fungus has affected the deep structure of the nail plate. The tool softens the affected area so the treatment ingredients penetrate deeply and easily.
For the compress, a product obtained by mixing iodohydrin and pre-crushed dried celandine is used. The product obtained in this way is applied in small amounts on damaged nail plates and covered with cellophane. The compress should remain on for more than 20 minutes. At the end of the procedure, it is not recommended to wet your fingers for 3-4 hours.
After compression, it is recommended to treat damaged nail plates with antifungal ointments. For best results, this procedure is recommended before bedtime.
tray
Bathing is mainly used to prevent the development of fungal infections. To prepare them, you must perform the following steps:
- Prepare 5 tablespoons of dried celandine and pour in 1. 5 liters of boiling water;
- Bring the composition to a boil again on the stove for 5 minutes;
- The product is diluted with cold water.
Use the therapeutic bath for no more than 20 minutes at a time.
In the treatment of pathology, drugs based on fungal alkaloids have recently been frequently used. This tool is sold in many drugstores and is used to remove a variety of skin imperfections, including papilloma and corns. The plant itself is not included in the ingredients of the product. This drug is mainly used as an add-on to the treatment of fungi. It is able to stop the development of inflammatory processes and partially relieve itching.
